Saron is the Swedish spelling of "Sharon," a region in Israel. It is a flat plain in between the Mediterranean and the mountains that had at one time been a great agricultural area. We can only speculate but believe the early Swedish settlers around Big Lake in the late Nineteenth Century chose the name because of the local terrain and fertile agricultural land.
We have a very open, light and beautiful sanctuary that will comfortably seat 300 and add to the joy of your big day. The most important focus, of course, is your relationship with each other. Pastor Kyle Sidlo will meet with you three times, starting at least three months before the wedding, both to help in planning the ceremony and to give you tools for a lasting relationship. We do allow other officiants, with some parameters. Smaller receptions can be held in the Saron facilities as well with seating up to 150. Pastor Kyle Sidlo is also available for weddings off-site. If you have any questions or would like to schedule a wedding, please contact the church office at (763) 263-2209.
Baptism is a gift from God, not requiring any particular level of knowledge, accomplishments or "goodness" on the part of the one being baptized or on the part of any parents or guardians. It is completely on the merit and generosity of God through Jesus Christ. Through the water and the words of God faith is planted in the baptized that springs up and grows to eternal life. Baptism is the beginning of life in Jesus Christ.
We will baptize people of all ages, "members" and "non-members". We require those desiring to be baptized or desiring their child to be baptized attend a class, merely to help in understanding the rich, abundant life the baptized will be entering. We baptize by "sprinkling" -- water cupped in the pastor's hand and poured over the forehead of the one being baptized. Please call the Saron office to schedule the baptism and for other information. For parents who would like their child baptized, if it is the first baptism at Saron for any of your children we require you attend a baptism class — typically the third Saturday of the month, 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. Please bring your child with you! Let us know if you need child care for any other children.
All are welcome to participate in communion. If you believe or even just want to believe that you are loved by God please join with us in celebrating the Lord's Supper. We believe that Jesus' amazing gift of love offered through His own Body and Blood was given for you. It does not require you to have a particular level of knowledge or be a certain age. We do have communion instruction for fifth graders and many of the parents of those fifth graders have chosen to wait until they have received instruction before they participate in communion for the first time. If you would like to have your child receive communion before then, please contact Pastor Kyle.
First Communion instruction in 2018 will take place in February with students receiving their First Communion March 11th.
