It’s time to collect items for Journey Bags!

For several years now Saron has been one of the biggest sources of support for The Forgotten Initiatives Journey Bag program and sadly (for the children) the need has only gotten larger. If you are not familiar with this mission Journey Bags are backpacks filled with basic items for children entering the foster care system who may arrive with nothing but the clothes on their backs, or anything to call their own in a time of need and last year Saron provided nearly 100 bags!  That is amazing!! These backpacks will go directly into the hands of foster children who often only receive a trash bag to carry what little they have.  These backpacks represent the extension of God’s love to these kids and support to the families that serve in foster care, please help us show them they are loved.

You can help us fill this great need by donating supplies such as backpacks, pajamas, stuffed animals, books, children's shampoo, toothbrushes, etc., or even fill an entire backpack with your family.  Slips with items needed to fill the Backpacks are available narthex or click Journey Bag Content List. Donations can be dropped off in the bins there as well.  Please return items to Saron by March 10th.  This is a flexible opportunity to connect with a great need in our community, and a great way to involve kids and families with giving in our community!  Contact Molly at 763-263-2209 or molly@saron.org with any questions.  THANK YOU!

God's Grub

Every second Sunday of the month we cook up a feast that is open to all and free!  From 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. people come and go, enjoy a good meal and great company.

We started God’s Grub as a simple community meal to serve hungry people, but soon found that what people enjoyed most was not just the delicious food but the chance to be together and make new friends.

We Can Be The Change

Every year during the summer, we come together to accomplish 100+ projects for Big Lake residents with a need, in an event we call We Can Be The Change. Projects that we have done range from building a wheelchair ramp, to painting, to yard work, and more!  Our focus during this event is not just on completing the projects, but on the relationships discovered, built, and strengthened in the process.

We always come away feeling that we received more than we gave from the amazing people that we have the opportunity to help.
